Shinobi 3DS Box Art Revealed

shinobi_3dsboxart

It was revlealed last month that Sega are bringing Shinobi back this September and on to 3DS.  It’s understanable why I’m excited about this game, but the revealed screenshots make it look epic.

The first Shinobi game was released back in 1987, but my first encounter with Sega’s ninja was in The Revenge of Shinobi on the Mega Drive in 1990 and then again twelve years later in 2002 on the Game Boy Advance.

Shinobi 3DS is expected to be like the old side scrolling platformer, but with a 3DS twist.  In true ninja style you’ll be able to attack enemies with melee, ranged, ninja magic and acrobatic attacks.  It’s also reported that you’ll be able to watch recorded replays to help perfect your Ninja skills.  There will also be StreetPass functionality used to unlock unique Retro Challenge Maps and play as Joe Musashi, the legendary character from the original game.

I for one can’t wait.

There is nothing ‘epic’ about that screenshot, it looks awful. I’ve heard it plays well which is good but seriously, the game looks awful.

    • I hope it’s good because I loved the old Shinobi games, but I agree about the graphics. But realise this was going to be a game for the original DS that was then made into a 3DS game, like Steel Diver. Personally, I think when this happens they should leave games on the originally intended system. There are different expectations for a new system, and there are still plenty of people out there with an original DS model that could have played the game and it still would have worked on the backward compatible 3DS.

What I’d like to see is some Shinobi on the Virtual Console when the Gamegear games appear!

I meant it looks like an epic game, not it looks like the graphics will be the best graphics on any system ever ever. The screenshot of Shinobi fighting some evil zombie ice queen? Epic.
