Over 1,200 stores across the UK to open at midnight for launch of Nintendo 3DS

Last night Nintendo UK announced that at least 1200 UK stores will be open at midnight to release Nintendo’s new hand-held console the 3DS at 00:01am on the 25th of March.

There will now also be 13 VIP launch events. It’s at these events where the first few fans will be able to get add-on games for free or dirt cheap. Nintendo won’t stop there, whomever is first in line will be given a free cab home courtesy of Nintendo UK.

The UK’s biggest Nintendo 3DS Launch Event will be at London’s flagship HMV store at 150 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1DJ. With this store it is i of 100 HMVs that’ll open on the night. If you are among the first 500 to buy a 3DS at a HMV launch store you will be able to get a game for free as well as other Nintendo rewards. One of the Nintendo rewards will be a space blanket (much like the one pictured here during the Wii release in 2006).

Nintendo UK’s General Manager says the 3DS has the potential to be one of Nintendo’s biggest ever launches here in the UK.
