Tokyo Game Show to go Ahead in Wake of Japan Earthquake
In the wake of the devastation that hit parts of Japan and the ongoing crisis surrounding the Fukushima nuclear power plant, a representative for the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) say, “With things as they stand now, we are not considering cancellation or delaying the show,”.
However with Japan experiencing power blackouts as well as the recovery efforts continuing they are being cautious and refusing to rule-out a possible reduction in the event or even a complete cancellation.
There are also unaddressed concerns regarding the structural integrity of the the Makuhari Messe, where the event is to be staged.
The economic situation in Japan and the games industry is not at present in good form, a large number of Spring releases were cancelled. This could in turn me companies not taking up booths at the TGS this time round as they seek to balance their books.
In the meantime, Nintendo Scene is hoping that Japan bounces back and the Tokyo Game Show goes as much to plan as possible. As we are all set to cover the event with flights and hotel booked.
