Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D – Extra Content Revealed
While some excellent games were released for the 3DS at day one, many Nintendo fans have been saving their pennies for the launch of the much anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; a 3D remake of the 1998 Nintendo 64 game. Fans can expect enhanced graphics, some re-work on the dungeons (the Water Temple caused a lot of grief back in the 90s), updated character models and the incorporation of the 3DS’ technology, such as the gyroscope and motion sensor for aiming arrows and firing Link’s slingshot.
The additional features of the game have recently been discovered, as Nintendo have detailed what bonus content they have in store for us in June. The rumours in March of the inclusion of the GameCube edition’s Master Quest has now been confirmed. The Master Quest provides players with stronger enemies and more challenging puzzles to figure out in the dungeons; for example in Ganon’s Tower the platforms would normally stay still move, and some are now invisible. This is an excellent addition to the main quest, as the majority of people who will purchase Ocarina of Time 3D have most likely completed the N64 version – so the Master Quest will provide bonus material to keep the veteran gamers busy.
Nintendo have also announced the inclusion of a Boss Rush mode – a feature not available in the original Ocarina of Time. This will allow players to battle against bosses they have previously defeated, or if they’re really up for a challenge – defeat every boss in the game all in a row, in one long continuous battle. Safe to say, this mode and the Master Quest are only for the most hardcore and determined of gamers.
So are you all looking forward to the new 3D version of this timeless classic? I know I am. Although, I can’t help but wish we were receiving a whole new Zelda game for the handheld instead… But then I remember that Skyward Sword (Wii, anticipated late 2011) is also just over the gaming horizon…
