My 3DS Augmented Reality T-Shirt Arrives

Twitter was buzzing with talk of t-shirts today, as the Club Nintendo 3DS Augmented Reality t-shirts started to arrive at homes across Europe. As one of the first 3,000 people to register my 3DS with Nintendo of Europe’s Club Nintendo I arrived home from work to see mine too had arrived today. Number 709 in fact.

As a Club Nintendo member I was interested to hear about these t-shirts before the 3DS was released in March, so registering my 3DS with the site was one of the first things I did when it arrived, keen to get hold of one of these limited edition numbered shirts. Confirmation that I would be the lucky recipient of one of the shirts arrived with me by email a few weeks later on the 12th April.

The shirt itself is a fairly cheap quality, with a large v-neck. Not my choice unfortunately. The print feels like ‘iron-on’ too; so not the best. Keen to give it a go, I ripped it from the packet and fired up my 3DS for my wife to try out the Augmented Reality software. Not having checked it out before, even using the standard cards, she enjoyed the experience, shooting the targets that appeared on me.

There are a few photo’s that we managed to get, but they’re not great. As you know the cards are supposed to be laid flat, so pointing the 3DS at someone standing up wearing the t-shirt doesn’t provide the ideal playing position. Perhaps I’ll try laying down at some point. Not being very familiar with the features of the Augmented Reality software, not having spent much time with yet, do let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to try!

Haha! Awesome photos! The world in our hands idea is genius. 🙂 I got my shirt too. Its a weird feeling moving around and seeing a hole protruding into you with a target inside. Good fun – will be the go to wear for an street pass events in the near future. 🙂

Cool! I didn’t hear about this. Were you notified that it was coming? Did you know you were in the first 3000 registered?
