3DS Firmware Update Delayed Until 07 June 11
Nintendo UK have made a press release stating that the next 3DS firmware update will contain the Nintendo 3DS eShop and an internet browser and will be released on 07 Jun 11.
Previously users were expecting a firmware update in May and Nintendo haven’t stated a reason for the delay, although previous rumours suggested a lack of internet browser in the next update, so maybe they are just tying two updates together.
The full press release is here:
Nintendo of Europe has announced that the latest system update for the hand-held Nintendo 3DS™ system will be available in Europe starting June 7. By downloading the free update via a broadband Internet connection, Nintendo 3DS users can enjoy a number of new features and enhancements including an Internet browser and access to the Nintendo eShop, where users can browse and purchase downloadable content. – Nintendo UK press release

Whaaat? At least it’s only the first week of June, and we know it will be worth the wait! Would be nice to have been supplied with a proper reason for this delay though, Nintendo..

Its obvious so they can just re-emulate what they did with the Wii SD card update. “And right now you can watch all those 3DS trailers you just saw at todays press briefing – right there on your 3DS.” And also – Its one more bullet point for the media to consider in nintendos favour on the inevitable ‘who won e3 debate’.
