Spotpass TV to Launch in Japan
Nintendo, in co-operation with Japanese TV networks Nippon TV and Fuji Television, are launching a 3D TV service for the 3DS tomorrow, 21st June.
Available for download from the e-shop, the Spotpass TV application will allow Japanese 3DS owners to view specially-created 3D video content streamed to their systems. When in range of a wi-fi access point, Spotpass TV will show whatever program is currently in progress.
It seems unlikely that this sort of service would make it to the West, where Nintendo would find it harder to make deals with TV companies, but since we’re already seeing downloadable movie trailers in the e-shop, you never know. Watch this space
