Mega Man Legends 3 Cancelled
Only four days have passed since we at Nintendo Scene were mourning the loss of Assassin’s Creed: Lost Legacy 3D, and now it has been confirmed that Mega Man Legends 3 has also been pulled from development.
Mega Man Legends 3 (MML3) was one of the earliest projects to be officially announced for the 3DS, and also heavily fan influenced, with its interactive online ‘devroom’, votes to decide character designs amongst other things, as well as an announced playable demo which was meant to be launched alongside the eShop to show off a prototype version of the game. As the development of the game had such a large input by its fans, it is a great disappointment for them, as well as other 3DS owners, that it has been cancelled.
Although it has not been officially stated the exact reason why development of MML3 has stopped, Capcom has said that the demo version will not be released either. Capcom have also explained that the reason behind the cancellation of MML3 is unconnected to the departure of series creater Keiji Inafune.
A post on the Capcom developer blog by staff member GregaMan has stated the following:
We’d like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project. From the outset the MML3 Project was intended to give gamers across the world insight and input into the development process … Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game … We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans. We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise as well as other Capcom games.
It’s a great shame when any game is cancelled so far through the development stages, but it an even greater shame when a game is cancelled with so much fan input and enthusiasm. Let us know your opinion on MML3‘s cancellation in the comments section down below.

Well, this stinks. I was gonna get it, being a Mega Man fan. Thanks Capcom. I wonder if this is why Mega Man wasn’t featured in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3…
