Nintendo Scene provide Wii gaming at the Maids of England’s first event

Saturday the 03 September 11 saw the Maids of England’s first maid cafe at Cafe VN in Clerkenwell Road, London.  The maids and butlers of MOE have been promoting themselves at several events across the UK, but this was their first event in what is to be their home venue.

I had previously been lucky enough to attend the Maids of England press event where I was served by head-maid Cassis, but this time I was attending as staff.  Nintendo Scene have paired with the Maids of England to provide Wii gaming challenges for the lords and ladies attending their events.

MOE I saw several battles between the patrons and the Maids and Butlers across Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Mario Kart, Guilty Gear and Wii Sports Tennis.  The patrons pay a small fee to play against the maids and if they win, they get a rewarded with a Polaroid photo of two maids or butlers of their choosing, signed and decorated.  But if they lost, they faced a punishment.

MOE I was split over two sessions.  The first running 12:00 to 15:00 and the second from 16:00 to 19:00.  During their time slots, the lord and ladies were seated and served by the maid of their choice.  You can order from Cafe VN’s starters, mains, drinks and deserts.  Having eaten at Cafe VN myself twice before, I can attest to the quality of their katsu chicken curry and VN chicken noodles.  Also available are home maid cakes (couldn’t resist that).  Each of the maids made their own, so there were plenty to try.

The maids and butlers, around serving, played games with the customers at their table, mini jenga and connect4 were the most popular.  Or, as many did, stepped up to the Wii gaming area to challenge the maids on one of the many games available.  The maids and butlers won overall, with Cassis claiming many victories in Guilty Gear.  The quiet and demure Maid Ai even won a round of Smash Brothers, having only played twice before.

Then, just before the end of each session, the maids and butlers performed several dance routines before unfortunately, the lords and ladies coaches arrived and they had to depart.

I’m pleased to announce that the Wii gaming at MOE I was a success, and Nintendo Scene have been invited back for MOE II, the date for which has yet to be finalised.  But keep your eye on our site for full details when it is announced.

Will we see you at MOE II?  The maids and butlers tell me they are looking forward to serving you soon.

  1. Wow, nice to see the scene happening in London. Right now in Tokyo I see this all over Akiharbara, but inside me I wish I could’ve been there with you guys too. But glad you all had a good time. Like it that Nintendo was represented there too. 😉
