MCM London October Preview and Street Fighter 3DS Streetpass Competition Details

October’s London MCM runs from Friday 28 October 2011 to Sunday 30 October 2011 at London’s dockland’s Excel  Centre.  The convention is expected to see 60’000 attendees through its doors over the weekend.  Are you going to be one of them?  Are you still undecided about picking up tickets?  If so, let me be your guide.

For starters, you can read my report from MCM London May here.

First off, MCM is huge and after picking up a program as you join the queue, planning is essential.  There’s going to be lots of events and displays and coupled with the huge amount of stalls and games on offer, if you’re only going on one day you’re going to be hard pressed to get it all in.  If you get hold of a weekend ticket, you get access to the special preview day on Friday, which is always much quieter than the two days over the weekend.  I usually get all of my shopping at the stalls done on Friday and then I can relax and concentrate on gaming, streetpassing and meeting Cosplayers over the weekend.

So what gaming is going to be on offer?  Here are some of my highlights.

PQube and ARC System Works

My first point of call is going to be to this area.  A hands on the 3DS version of BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 has been a priority of mine for a long time.  I’ve had the game on pre-order ever since I accidently found it on Amazon while browsing 3ds pre-orders when the system was released back in March.  I’m a huge fan of the original games and love the style.  I’m also hoping to get to see some quality BlazBlue cosplays as I have in past MCM’s.

PQube and ARC System Works will also have on offer over the weekend:

Capcom

Capcom will have the following games playable in two giant boxing rings:

No Resident Evil Operation Racoon City unfortunately, which I’m gutted about.  Those of you who read my GAMEfest report will know it was my Game of GAMEfest and I’ve been itching to play on it again.

If you want to win an exclusive Capcom t-shirt, you’ll have to check at the end of this preview article for details.

Nintendo Unleashed

For those who weren’t able to make it to Eurogamer, there’s another chance to get a hands on with some of the biggest Nintendo games before they’re released over the next few months and for those who did make it to Eurogamer, outside of the IGN 100th Podcast Party, the first UK Consumer hands on of Luigi’s Mansion 2 will be playable.  The full list of on show titles is:

Wii

3DS

Also showcasing games will be Namco Bandai, Konami, THQ, WB Games, Ubisoft, 2K Games, Rising Star Games, and KT.  When I have full lists of their games I will update this preview.

Nintendo Scene / Capcom Super Street Fighter IV Streetpass Competition

So you want to get your hands on an exclusive Capcom prize?  What we have on offer are three limited Street Fighter x Tekken t-shirts kindly provided by Capcom, and all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning one is beat me at Super Street Fighter IV in a 3DS Streetpass battle (when I say beat, I mean best of 5 in a standard SSFIV Streetpass battle, there will be extra kudos for anyone who manages to perfect me).

Easy huh?  I haven’t lost in a long time, so you better start looking at hitting those figure slots, looking at your team placement and skill set and then finding me at MCM.  My team is under the name of Stealth and I’ll be clearing down my SSFIV Streetpass battles as often as I can on all three days of MCM.

If you beat me and I will get the same battle so I will know if you have, simply message me on twitter (@StealthBuda) saying “SB, I think you need to hit the Capcom Gym again @NintendoScene #IGaveSBSomeSSFIVStreetpassBeats” and I’ll contact you to confirm your team name.  Anyone who does beat me will be entered in to a draw each day to win one of the t-shirts.  If you win a t-shirt you will not be eligible to win another, but if you beat me and don’t win the t-shirt, you can beat me on a subsequent day and be entered in to that day’s draw.

I look forward to schooling you all.

FIGHT!

So are you going to MCM?  What game or aspect are you looking forward to?

Tickets are still on sale via the MCM website.

My team finally beat yours when I picked up a pass at the collectors thing last weekend, will you be editing your team to give me a challenge, or do I get guaranteed entry to the contest each day of MCM ;p

So you did. I only got five SSFIV hits on the Sunday of EMS so I hadn’t cleared them before this morning. But no, I’ve got 724100 FP to spend so I suspect my team will change drastically over the next few days 🙂

  2. What about a proper Street Fighter match not Streetpass?

I’m happy to play, but I’m not willing to organise a tournament or anything official at MCM. It’s just too busy to organise something impromptu there, people would sign up and then not turn up to play. Somewhere like London Gaming Con is better to organise tournaments/gaming at. MCM is awesome, but not the right environment if you haven’t got floor space.
