Zelda News Round Up

As we edge ever closer to next months release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, excitement and anticipation is through the roof. The first reviews are coming in, all reporting that this is hands down the most spectacular Zelda adventure to date. ONM gave it a staggering 98% (read more about it here), while EDGE magazine awarded it a perfect 10. No real surprises. Over 100 staff have been working on the game for the last 5 years, so It’s likely as more reviews come in, we will see a similar run of high scores.

This is all great news. A few months ago I wrote an article on why I think Skyward Sword has some pretty big boots to fill. If you fancy a read, check it out here.

Fortunately, things are looking better than ever for Link. With the 25th Anniversary celebrations in full swing, it really is a great time for the series. This year, we’ve already had the mighty Ocarina of Time 3D (read Orla’s epic review here to see why you need this game). We also got the Gameboy classic Links Awakening DX via the e-shop – sheer witchcraft how they managed to squeeze such a big adventure onto a tiny Gameboy cart! And while we’re on the subject of handheld Zelda’s, check out my five reasons why you should also download Four Swords, Links multiplayer classic. It’s free for a limited time so make sure you download it by February 2012!

Next week Nintendo bring the magical sounds of the Zelda series to London as part of the Symphony Tour. Held on Tuesday 25 October at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, this will be the only performance in Europe. Have you got a ticket? If not, you can WIN A PAIR OF TICKETS right here at Nintendo Scene. Click here for full details on how to enter, but be quick as the competition is closing very soon!

Nintendo Scene will be at the event to hand the tickets to the lucky winner. Also, we have organised a Streetpass event  and are running a Mii Streetpass competition in partnership with our friends over at Insert Coin Clothing. It really is set to be a night to remember!!

If that’s not enough, don’t forget the Zelda Take Over Day next weekend. The Old Market Square in Nottingham will be transformed into a living breathing Hyrule Market Town for the day. There will be a host of activities and competitions so if you are heading along, feel free to take photos and send them in to us and they may be featured on the site.

Keep your eyes on Nintendo Scene here (as well as our Twitter and Facebook feeds) over the next few weeks for more Zelda news, including our verdict on Skyward Sword. The future is looking very green indeed!
