3DS Sales In The USA

The holiday season has come and gone and Nintendo finally seems to be catching up in the way of sales numbers. The holiday season welcomed in new hits such as Mario Kart 7 and fans noticed. Not only did the 3DS hit a milestone, some of their new classics did as well. Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land each broke the million copies sold barrier and in a way, helped Nintendo consider this portion of the sales a success rather than a flop, which could be the case before the holiday season.

The 3DS also had a major breakthrough, where the system sold more than 4 million systems. The question becomes “if this wasn’t the holiday season, would the big wigs at Nintendo consider this portion of the sales calendar to be a success?”  The holidays always help sales out big time and anyone could probably see that no holidays = not as large a sales number. It’s a good thing that Nintendo ended 2011 so well because the start of 2012 might be the same as the start of the 3DS lifespan, slow going at the start and then picks it up in the middle but that’s the way all systems start out. Kid Icarus: Uprising and Resident Evil: Revelations will be just what the doctor ordered if Nintendo is struggling at the start of 2012.
