The Calm Before The Storm: A February to Behold! – US 3DS Games Release Dates

This February will go down as probably one of the most eventful months of this new year for the Nintendo 3DS.  (The following launch dates are for the US)

If you haven’t been keeping up with the gaming scene here, the Nintendo 3DS has amassed a very compelling lineup of titles to watch: Resident Evil: Revelations, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and Tekken 3D: Prime Edition are only the tip of the star-studded iceberg which is very much adjacent to the incoming PlayStation Vita ship, beginning its North American voyage on February 22nd.

So far, we’ve seen the eShop’s newest hit – Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword signals the first entry of this stellar month and with the rave reviews that have been given so far, the 3DS has already claimed an advantage. The game is a very fluid action game that emphasizes precision and patience over hack-n-slash type fights, and sports fantastic gameplay that makes it all very fun for all to enjoy.

February 7th brings us the Circle Pad Pro peripheral, and Capcom’s Resident Evil: Revelations – a game in the series that is by all means unskippable. The game acts as a bridge between Resident Evil 4 and 5 while bringing back the survival horror elements of games past, something that the fans have clamored for. Will you pick it up?

February 14th is known around the world as a day where love is celebrated above all – but as 3DS games, we’ll love to hear that 3 more titles will arrive that day: Namco Bandai double-dips us with Tales of the Abyss and Tekken 3D: Prime Edition, while SEGA will give us the portable version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Three very different genres for all to enjoy!

The week of February 21st will be one to really focus on. While the PlayStation Vita sets sail on the 22nd, it will have to put up with another double dip, this time from Konami. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 are both due on that day, bringing the sport of champions and stealth action to the table.

We might as well have a very interesting clash of titans on our hands as both systems have compelling lineups that will bring in a lot of interested folk, but who knows what may happen after the storm of brand new content?

Other than the expected rise of Nintendo’s angel of light, it’s all a mystery from here on out.
