Ubisoft’s E3 Show – Wii U Line-Up & More!

Last night we witnessed Ubisoft’s E3 2012 presentation, and what a great show it was! Whilst there was a large focus on Wii U titles, Ubisoft also revealed some surprises, such as a new IP, an on-stage PC gaming tournament as well as some great multi-platform gameplay trailers. In case you missed it, Nintendo Scene have a step-by-step run through of all the evening’s major events.

23:00  Ready and waiting for the main event…

23:04  Here we go! Some music starting… Looks like Just Dance 4 to start off the show.

23:05  So far the songs include Good Feeling by Flo Rida, Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera, Wild Wild West by Will Smith and Maneater by Nelly Furtado. Some solid tunes there sure to push sales.

23:06  Here comes Flo Rida himself, rapping along to Good Feeling with some dancers in the background – what a way to start the show!

23:07  Looks very likely for a Wii U release, as there looks as though there is a controller at the front of the stage! Wahoo!

23:08  Just Dance 4 will be coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii in October this year and be available at the Wii U’s launch (whenever that may be…!)

23:09  Ubisoft’s host for this evening is Aisha Tyler, who seems very enthusiastic about the Just Dance franchise and touching Flo Rida!

23:10  “We’re all a little bit gay, all of us” – whatever you say Aisha.

23:11  “Our next game is an adrenaline fuelled adventure set on a stunningly beautiful tropical island, but trust me this will be no day at the beach…” Sounds like Far Cry 3 is next. Don’t except any Wii U announcements for this one.

23:12  Here comes the trailer. Definitely a game for the more mature audience!

23:14  Full-on gameplay trailer here. Looking stunning. Shame future Wii U owners won’t be getting this!

23:15  So far lots of swearing, slaughtering and running about going on.

23:16  Looks pretty crazy, literally. There are some TVs stacked up with rude words on them! Oh dear!

23:20  And that’s that. Far Cry 3 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Excepted around September.

23:21  Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is up next. Will it be coming to the Wii U? Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars came to the 3DS at launch, so you never know… Here comes the trailer.

23:22  Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist was shown at Microsoft’s conference earlier today. Our protagonist is Sam Fisher. It’s all about stealth, action, explosions and some deadly weapons.

23:24  Looking less likely for a Wii U announcement now… Seems to be set for a PS3, Xbox 360 and PC release in Spring 2012. Oh dear Aisha just said “girl wood” – slightly troubling.

23:25  Wii U alert! Next is Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth. All you hordes of Avengers fans, this is your time.

23:25  Lots of action, so far spotted a few familiar faces such as Wolverine, Venom, Spiderman, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye and maybe one or two that I don’t recognise (comment down below if you can spot the ones I’ve missed!).

23:26  Coming to the Wii U and Kinect in Fall 2012. Another launch title perhaps? Looking promising…

23:27  Looks like a whole section on Wii U games! This is it! Michael Micholic, Rayman’s Senior Game Manager is ready to show off Rayman Legends on Wii U.

23:28  Rayman Legends uses the GamePad’s touch controls well. The art style is similar to Rayman Origins, which is as beautiful as ever! Legends can use up to 5 players, including the use of your original Wiimote controllers. There is also a new character called Murphy whose moves were developed specifically for the Wii U controls.

23:29  Some great depth of field with this platformer. Uses lots of button combinations too and has a strong emphasis on co-op modes. Some gyro controls seem to have been thrown into the mix too.

23:31  The level being demoed at the moment seems quite fast, with some amazing visuals and awesome music behind it. Seems very popular with the crowd too! Probably won’t be available at the Wii U’s launch though.

23:32  This next game is a Wii U exclusive, based on a zombie apocalypse and is M rated, so once again not one for the kids.

23:33  Here goes the trailer. Seems to be set in Britain or more precisely London, with God Save The Queen playing. Very fitting during the Jubilee festivities…

23:34  Lots and lots of zombies. Anyone fancy a bit of a zombie shoot ’em up?

23:35  Ubisoft has just confirmed the name is ZombiU and will be available at the Wii U’s launch.

23:36  It seems that the Killer Freaks from Outer Space project has been turned into ZombiU. Personally, I’m fine with this.

23:37  Looks like a run-through of some more Wii U games. First off is Rabbids Land Wii U, which is set in a theme park. Also implements the touchpad and gyro controls according to the trailer.

23:37  Then we have Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013, where you can create personalised fitness programs. There will be 125 different workouts and 215 moves – more than enough to keep you fit and healthy. The product information suggests that players can recommend workouts and fitness ideas over the internet, so therefore in theory Miiverse could also be implemented – let’s wait and see!

23:38  Sports Connection, showing golf and a Mario Kart-like gameplay. … Just Dance 4 again. All these games will be available at the Wii U’s launch.

23:38  Yes! Assassin’s Creed 3 time! Here comes the trailer…

23:38  “This is a revolution”. Indeed it is.

23:40  Very dramatic trailer, but not sure about the Assassin taking on the whole British army in this section… Think Ubisoft might need to double check that. Overall very exciting stuff though!

23:42  Francois Pelland, the Assassin’s Creed 3 producer is up to show us the gameplay trailer.

23:42  This part of the demo is set in New England, coated in lots of gorgeous snow. Looks like a PS3 demo version however. The beginning of the demo mostly involves swinging from tree to tree and showing the availability of different quests for locals.

23:44  The snow is actually very impressive, with different depths and trails. Connor, our assassin protagonist, can also noose-tie victims and is very handy with his tomahawk.

23:46  It looks generally very sleek, with oustanding level design as Connor is climbing rock to rock without any clear indication of which rocks are ‘climb-able’ as in most games.

23:47  Just saw a man in a kilt headbutt Connor. Amazing.

23:48  Not too chuffed about the anti-British focus, but then again what did I expect? For example, the demo just showed an Englishman drinking tea and another whipping a native American.

23:50  Overall, looking very interesting! Let’s hope the Wii U version looks as good as this PS3 demo!

23:51  A fan has written in about the British being the enemy, to which Pelland has responded that you will be fighting both for and against each side over a span of 30 years of conflict. He also stresses that the true enemy, as always, are the templars.

23:54  Next is Shootmania Storm. Heading to the screens of PC gamers this year.

23:58  Very long demo on this one, which seems like a PC online tactical FPS. Basically just lots of shouting and shooting, nice to have an on-stage tournament though.

00:00  And it’s over.

00:02  It’s all about Ubisoft’s online focus at the moment. Settlers Online… Ghost Recon Online… All free to play.

00:04  On comes Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. What’s this? A new IP? This will probably be the big boom which will end the show.

00:05  A trailer is starting… The game’s focus seems to be on a dystopia-like society, revolving around the city and computers.

00:06  “Everything can be hacked” – looks very interesting so far.

00:07  Before Ubisoft’s Creative Director at Ubisoft Montreal hits the stage, a green light is scanning the audience. Ooo…

00:07  It’s an open-world game and the protagonist is called Aiden Pierce who is obsessed with hacking, surveillance and misusing personal data. He has power over the ctOS – the Central Operating System of the city.

00:09  The movement style is like GTA, looks a tad like it too. There is an on-screen map, NPC interaction and a very vast world if the demo is anything to go by.

00:11  Pierce may look a bit scruffy but is cleverly using his phone to hack into systems and manipulate the environments around him.

00:12  Lovely close-up on facial features during cut scenes. If this comes out on Wii U then we are in for a treat! I’m betting on a PS3/Xbox 360/PC release though…

00:14  Pierce has been listening into NPC phone conversations and has just hacked into the system to control the traffic and cause a car crash. What a meanie.

00:15  Some slow-motion bullet control there. Also seems a bit stealthy at points as he is taking cover behind crashed cars etc.

00:16  Very nice! Pierce just slide across the bonnet of a car.

00:17  Is that two players? One following the other? This looks like definitely one to watch, even though it most likely will not be available for the Wii U.

00:18  It was called Watch Dogs. “Everything is connected… Connection is power”.

00:20  And that end’s Ubisoft’s show. How exciting! Hope everyone is super hyped for Nintendo’s conference tomorrow!

Nintendo’s E3 presentation will be starting at 5pm GMT. Don’t miss it!
