Wii U GamePad Works Best Within 8 Metres of Your TV and Console

As you all probably know by now the Wii U has the capability in some instances to switch the action from your big TV screen to the smaller, more portable screen on your GamePad. That’s all very nice and all but just how far away can you go with your GamePad without losing solid communication with your Wii U console?

Well Bill Trinen, Nintendo’s walking FAQ section, has revealed in an interview with 1-Up the furthest you can go without jeopardising your gaming experience.

“Of course, when we’re generally giving limits on things like that, and I think the same thing can be said for the Nintendo 3DS battery life… We tend to be more conservative, because we’re looking at it from a performance perspective. What, really, is the range where you’re going to get the best performance out of that? And you’re going to get the best performance within a range of about… They had a very precise number at one point. In meters it’s like eight meters. In feet it’s about 24 feet. That’s for best performance.”

So eight meters seems to be how far you can get without your gaming experience deteriorating, that might just get you into the next room so don’t expect to be able to take that Wii U GamePad of yours on long arduous train journeys anytime soon…
