Reggie Wants to See Gamecube Games on The Wii U Virtual Console – And So Do We!

President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime has expressed his desire to see Gamecube games become downloadable on the Wii U Virtual Console. Speaking to Kotaku, Reggie responded to the question on downloadable Gamecube games by saying:

“Personally I would love for that to happen, but we have nothing to announce right now.”

There has been a lot of speculation on whether or not Nintendo will make this happen, seeing as the Wii U will not be able to play Gamecube discs, and the quote above is only going to fuel it further!

We’d love to see some Gamecube classics available on the Virtual Console! There’s The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Pikmin and Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door just to name a few! Technically even The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess could get in there!

Personally I think this will happen eventually seeing as without it Nintendo cannot say that the Wii U is ‘fully backward compatible’ something that was pretty useful in the selling of the Wii.

What do you all think? Would you, like Reggie and ourselves, like this to be made a reality? Let us know which games you’d like to see made downloadable!
