Rayman Legends Delayed Until Q1 2013

Disappointing news out of Ubisoft today as Rayman Legends, one of the most anticipated Wii U games, has been put back to a Q1 2013 release. Originally down for a 30th November release alongside the Wii U, the game has been delayed to as to give the development team more time to perfect the game and will now come out anywhere between 1st January and 31st March 2013.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Ubisoft gave the following statement:

“Rayman Legends will launch worldwide in the first quarter of 2013.”

“We’re happy that fans are excited about the game, and we are taking the time to make sure we deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations. We’ll have more details to share soon.”

You could speculate Ubisoft are attempting to navigate the market tactfully what with the excessive amount of competition surrounding them on launch, however it most likely is because of the development team needing more time. Ubisoft have a bit of a tradition now in releasing a host of games on launch, remember the Wii line-up including Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids?

Rayman Legends is so hotly anticipated, I would go as far to say this news is music to the ears of other publishers releasing games for the Wii U on launch day.

What do you all think to this news? Are you disappointed or were you not too keen on it anyway? We’d love to hear your views!

Oh this is really disappointing to hear. What I’ve played of it so far was really impressive and I had it pre-ordered for release day too. Looks like Zombi U might go up my list to replace it then for a release day purchase!
