Ubisoft Anticipated Wii U’s Launch Much Sooner
Ubisoft have revealed that they wanted Rayman Origins to be available on Wii U but were forced to discard the idea due to the console not being made available until late 2012.
Speaking to Nintendo Power, Rayman’s creator Michel Ancel said Ubisoft had worked very closely with Nintendo on the Wii U and its prototypes but were a little in the dark when it came to a release date.
“We did not know exactly when Nintendo would release the system, but we started making Origins for Wii U. [At that point], we thought Wii U would come out a lot earlier.”
Due to the release of the Wii U being much later than they anticipated, Ubisoft admitted defeat and instead focussed their efforts on creating the sequel Rayman Legends, which will be a Wii U exclusive.
Rayman Legends has recently been delayed to a Q1 2013 release. Are you still looking forward to it?
