Wii U Will Support Third Party Headsets For Voice Chat
Earlier this week we reported that the Wii U will support voice chat but it will not be done using the GamePad’s built-in microphone. In order to use voice chat in-game you’ll need to get hold of a headset and Nintendo have now confirmed they will be supporting the products of MadCatz and Turtle Beach.
All you need to do is plug the headset into the GamePad’s headphone jack and you’ll be chatting away in no time! The main issue comes with the Pro Controller: it doesn’t have anywhere to plug in the headset. For that reason then you’ll need to keep the GamePad at hand so you can use its headphone jack, something that is a bit of a pain but hopefully won’t cause too much hassle.
The three launch games confirmed to include voice chat functionality using the Mad Catz and Turtle Beach headsets are Assassin’s Creed III, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Mass Effect 3.
Will you be picking up a headset? Let us know!
