Capcom Can No Longer Sell Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars
If you want to buy Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars for your plucky little Wii but haven’t yet done so you might want to get your money out now as new copies of the game are about to become a rarity.
Capcom, the game’s publisher, have bizarrely lost the rights to sell the title as the licence with the Japanese arthouse Tatsunoko has expired.
Speaking on the Capcom Unity forums, senior vice president Christian Svensson confirmed the news to the Capcom faithful:
“Our rights with Tatsunoko have lapsed fairly recently (so we’re no longer allowed to sell the title physically or digitally).”
For Capcom to be able to begin selling the game again they would need to renegotiate the licence agreement with Tatsunoko, however this seems unlikely considering the cost of a licence would probably outweigh the money they’d be able to reel in from new sales.
No further shipments of the game will be sent to retailers so if you’re considering buying Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars you’d better be quick as once they’re gone, they’re gone and you’ll have to pay through the nose for a copy!
What are your thoughts on this news? Will you be clambering off to the shops to grab a copy? Let us know your thoughts!
