Nintendo Direct 1st April 2015 – Our Wishes and Expectations
In case you missed the news; the next Nintendo Direct airs tonight at 11:00pm UK time, BST.
Set to feature ‘New announcements and updates incoming for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS owners!’ the team here at Nintendo Scene are all set for what hopes to be one of the most exciting Nintendo Direct’s so far. You can enjoy the broadcast at www.nintendo.co.uk/nintendodirect at 11:00pm.
The following are what we’re hoping and expecting to see. But what what about you? Let us know what you’re expecting from this Nintendo Direct in the comments below!
“What I wish to see is the same as always: an announcement of a new Metroid or Punch-Out game! Retro Studios and Next Level Games are two of my favourite developers, and I’d love to see what they are working on next, if not these two franchises. Of course that’s an unlikely hope, and I’m not sure if we’ll see any major announcements this close to E3.
What I’m hopefully expecting is some news on the Mario Kart 8 DLC scheduled for May, with some of the new tracks being shown. I’m also expecting a Super Smash Bros. 4 announcement focussing on the Mewtwo update, with Nintendo giving us a release date. Splatoon is a likely possibility too, since many publications were recently able to try out the game and release footage online. A release date for that – along with Yoshi’s Wooly World – would be very nice too. Finally, I’m anticipating another Amiibo wave. I can’t predict which characters will be next, so I’ll list the ones I want: Greninja, Zero Suit Samus, Duck Hunt Duo, and Lemmy (I can dream)”
“News on the MK8 DLC for May would be excellent – more amiibo costumes for your Mii character would be a great part of this update too. More Splatoon – amiibo support of course – plus I’m hoping to see something previously unannounced – Mario Sunshine HD remake perhaps? The rumoured new Paper Mario title maybe? A new Metroid title!
We all know about my amiibo addiction; but I really want to see the next wave of Smash Bros’ figures – Duck Hunt Duo will be a must pre-order, as well as Olimar… I would also like to see more from the Super Mario range – Rosalina, Daisy and Toadette from Mario Party 10 would be must-buys.
I was also thinking it’s about time we see N64 titles on the Wii U eShop – Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Smash Bros. are a given surely? A release date for Yoshi’s Wooly World, the 3DS badge centre – already available in Japan – oh, and info on Star Fox would be awesome too…”
“Nintendo Directs are always hard to predict, especially as there’s always at least one curveball. So, I want to second Conor’s call for a new Metroid, as that single announcement would place this broadcast on the god tier.
But as more realistic expectations, I would hope to see release dates for the Mario Kart 8 and Smash 4 DLC, some sort of eShop announcement (hopefully encompassing either N64 games on Wii U, or bringing more Wii games across – especially Pandora’s Tower, which was teased previously, and/or The Last Story), more information on Splatoon and Yoshi’s Wooly World, and more Amiibo figures announced.
Needless to say, bring on 11pm.”
