New Details Emerge For Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash
Nintendo has served some fresh details on Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash a month ahead of its release. The company confirmed that the title will provide amiibo support, where users can team up with a figure online or level up their amiibo character and partner up against the CPU in the offline ‘Knockout Challenge’ mode. The following character figures will be supported: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, Yarn Yoshi, Rosalina, Wario, Toad and Donkey Kong.
Rosalina will make her debut on the court, alongside the recently revealed Boo, Daisy and Waluigi. Four new modes on offer include:
- Knockout Challenge: Tense tiebreak matches against increasingly difficult computer-controlled opponents await in this single-player mode. If the going gets too tough, you can call in a supported amiibo as your doubles partner.
- Mega Battle: Your character grows to gigantic proportions after grabbing a Mega Mushroom, dominating the court with their increased power and range.
- Classic Tennis: This more traditional mode offers two variations: Standard mode features Chance Shots and Jump Shots but no Mega Mushrooms, while Simple puts competitors between the tramlines with no Chance Shots or power-ups – a real test of tennis prowess.
- Online multiplayer: Battle it out against players online for Mega Battle, Classic Tennis, or take it easy in a casual match. Two players on the same console can team up or you can partner up with your amiibo.
Those who purchase the title from the Nintendo eShop will receive a download code for Mario Tennis on Wii U Virtual Console. The promotion is only valid in the first four weeks of its release. Brand new Toad and Bowser designed Wii Remote Plus controllers will also smash across stores alongside the upcoming title.
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash will spin across Europe and North America on 20th November next month, are you planning on picking it up? Check out the latest trailer below in the meantime.
