Say Hello to “Nintendo Account”, Nintendo’s New Membership Service
During Nintendo’s investor strategy briefing, the company gave details about its new cloud storage system, Nintendo Account. This data service will allow for the exchange of game data between its console and mobile games.
To use this service you can register using your Facebook, Twitter, Nintendo Network ID and email address with ease. You’ll be able to make software purchases for your 3DS and Wii U through this service.
Gifts and other video game related notices will be sent out according to your purchase and game play records.
A new points program will also roll out, allowing users to build up points by purchasing and playing video games (think collecting coins by walking with the 3DS). These points can be used towards in-game items and game discounts.
Your Nintendo Account will eventually reward you with membership benefits at theme parks, theaters and outlet stores.
A specific date is yet to be revealed for the release of Nintendo Account, but it is said that it will launch in March 2016 to coincide with the release of Miitomo
