Four Pokémon 20th Anniversary 2DS Bundles Launching In Japan Next Year
In 2016, the Pokémon franchise is set to celebrate its 20th birthday. To mark the milestone, Nintendo are set to release four Nintendo 2DS Pokémon bundles, each themed after the original Pokémon games on the Game Boy.
It also marks the debut of the 2DS in Japan, and all 4 bundles will arrive in the East on February 27th 2016. Each bundle will come with its respective Virtual Console game and a 3DS Home theme. The blue bundle will be exclusive to Pokémon Centers across Japan.
The Pokémon themed 2DS consoles will arrive at retailers in Japan at the suggested retail price of 9,980 yen (€75 / £55 / $80 approx.).
A new cover plate for the New 3DS is also set to land in the East in February next year, featuring sprite versions of the original 150 Pokémon.
A special Mew event is also scheduled for Japan next year. All copies of Pokémon Green, Red, Blue and Yellow on the Nintendo eShop in Japan will include a special serial code for Mew within the first year of being distributed.
