GRANDIA HD Collection Release Date Announced

Gungho America have just announced the release date for GRANDIA HD Collection the classic JRPG collection containing both GRANDIA and GRANDIA 2 and it couldn’t be much sooner.

It’s the 15th August! That’s barely a week away. Amazing that such JRPG joy is joining the Switch so soon.

EL SEGUND, Calif. – August 6, 2019 – GungHo Online EntertainmentAmerica (GOEA) has announced that the GRANDIA HD Collection for Nintendo SwitchTM will be released on August 16, 2019 and GRANDIA HD Remaster for PC will follow at a later date. Additionally, GRANDIA® II Anniversary Edition (sold separately) will be renamed to GRANDIA II HD Remasteron PC.

The classic RPGs have been updated to bring enhanced visuals, handheld support on Nintendo SwitchTM, and gamepad and keyboard support on Steam. Players will be getting their hands on two games that changed the landscape of RPGs forever, for the first time in beautiful HD graphics.

Originally designed and created by developer Game Arts, creators of such classics as the Lunar and GRANDIA series, GRANDIA was met with wide critical acclaim when released for the SEGA Saturn in 1997 and PlayStation® in 1999. GRANDIAreceived numerous awards including GameSpot Editor’s Choice, IGN Editor’s Choice Award and an Award for Excellence from CESA AWARDS ’97, currently known as “Japan Game Awards.” Telling the story of protagonist Justin and his companions in a race against the evil Garlyle Forces to uncover the long-lost secrets of an ancient civilization. GRANDIA became an instant classic and is now considered one of the most influential RPGs of all time. GRANDIA HD Collection will be available on Nintendo SwitchTM, with GRANDIA HD Remaster for Steam to follow.

Developed by Game Arts, GRANDIA IIis considered a highpoint for its unique battle system and stunning visuals. The story stars the mercenary Ryudo, who has been charged with protecting songstress Elena. However, soon after the two begin traveling together, everything they know about the world unravels, sending them on a mysterious and epic journey. Originally released for the Dreamcast in 2000 and PlayStation®2 in 2002, the game was critically acclaimed, receiving numerous awards including IGN Editor’s Choice award, and EGM’s Gold award.
